Juvenile Defense

Your child's entire future is on the line. Juvenile court has its own rules — and certification to adult court is the danger to fight.

When your child is taken into custody, two things are true at once: the juvenile system is built around rehabilitation, and it can still derail a young life. Detention, placement out of the home, a record that follows them into adulthood — and in serious cases, certification to be prosecuted as an adult. A parent's instinct is to tell the child to "just be honest with the officers." Don't. Get a lawyer first.

What's Different About Juvenile Court

  • Different vocabulary, same stakes. "Adjudication" instead of conviction, "disposition" instead of sentence — but the consequences are real.
  • The deputy juvenile officer. The DJO's recommendation drives much of the case. Mike knows how to work with — and when to fight — the juvenile office.
  • Certification is the battle of the case. For serious felonies, the State may move to certify your child as an adult under § 211.071. Winning that hearing keeps your child in a system designed to give them a future.

A Father's Perspective, A Fighter's Approach

Mike treats juvenile clients the way he'd want his own kids treated: protected, respected, and fought for. The goal in every juvenile case is the same — resolve it in a way that closes the door behind it, so one bad night doesn't define a whole life.
