Missouri divides felonies into five classes — A, B, C, D, and E — with class A carrying a possible life sentence and class E starting at up to four years. Which class applies to your charge, and whether it can be reduced or dismissed before it ever reaches a jury, depends on facts prosecutors often get wrong the first time. That gap is where a felony case gets won.

Why a Felony Charge Changes Everything

A felony conviction in Missouri can cost you more than prison time. Firearm rights, professional licenses, housing applications, and certain jobs are all affected long after a sentence ends. Prosecutors know this leverage exists, and it shapes how aggressively they charge a case from the start.

How Mike Approaches a Felony Case

  • The charging decision. The same conduct can often be charged as a felony or a misdemeanor. Mike pushes back on overcharging from the first court date.
  • The evidence. Search and seizure issues, chain of custody, and unreliable witness identification are common weak points the State doesn't advertise.
  • The negotiation. Prosecutors evaluate cases differently when they know the attorney across the table will actually try it to a jury.
  • The trial. When a plea isn't in your interest, Mike is prepared to select a jury and make the State prove every element.

Felony Charges Mike Defends

Felony exposure shows up across almost every area of Missouri criminal law — drug trafficking and distribution, aggravated and armed assault, felony DWI, felony-level domestic violence, felony stealing and fraud, weapons offenses, and federal charges. Each has its own defenses and its own statute — see the practice area pages below for charge-specific detail.
